Some glimpses of Launching Ceremony of Sunbeam School, Allahabad

LAUNCH OF THE SUNBEAM EDUSERVE LTD. AT HOTEL CLARKS, VARANASI

  With the motive of spreading knowledge in every corner of the city, Late Dr. Amrit Lal Ishrat Madhok & Late. Ms. Deesh Ishrat Madhok started a small school. This sapling Sunbeam School, has grown into a vast tree, now known as Sunbeam Group of Educational Institutions.

  Another bright chapter was added to this golden journey of Sunbeam Group on the 16^th of Dec’10 at Hotel Clarks, in the presence of special guests, dignitaries & educationists, with the formal launch of the SUNBEAM EDUSERVE LTD.

  Asst director Ms. Pratima Gupta presented a slide show on the Sunbeam journey. She stated that the reason behind the success of Sunbeam is that it never compromises on the quality of education. Any new experiment, information, knowledge or technique is automatically added to Sunbeam’s style of working. Its not an exaggeration to say that Sunbeam, since 1972 has been able to bring a revolutionary change in the world of education. Students in Sunbeam are displaying their caliber in every direction & every sphere of life. Understanding the responsibility towards society Sunbeam has also established a Gramin Vidyalaya at Karsana to spread education in rural areas, where 800 students study free of cost. Today Sunbeam is not only running its branches in different parts of the city but also in Mughalsarai (Chandauli) where approximately 1400 students are being educated from PG to Class XII

  The program was followed by another presentation by the Dy. Director Ms Amrita Burman, on Sunbeam Eduserve’s objective to spread modern education in the entire country by establishing schools with high standards of educational facilities that can help in building an advance and educated India.

Deputy Director Mrs. Amrita Burman spoke about the Sunbeam Precept i.e. the complete techniques and methodologies of teaching adopted in all the Sunbeam Schools right from nursery, primary, junior to the senior level. She also stated that under the Sunbeam precept we focus not only in building bookish knowledge in students but also providing an all round holistic development. For this even the teachers undergo special training and attend workshops.

Keeping the same objective in mind the Managing Director of the Sunbeam Eduserve Ltd, Mr. Deepak Madhok said that the company is spreading the light of knowledge in Uttar Pradesh, Under the company’s name the current educational session, FOUR new Sunbeam Schools are going to start in April 2011 in Mau, Jaunpur, Ghazipur & Allahabad. In the coming future with the same planning & objective we also look forward towards achieving our target by establishing schools in the whole country under Sunbeam Eduserve Ltd., so that we are not only able to spread modern education but also show the right direction to the society.

Addressing the gathering Director Sunbeam Group of Educational Institutions, Ms. Bharti Madhok said that its the desire & the will that has made this success possible which once the founder late Dr. Amritlal Ishrat Madhok & Ms. Deesh Ishrat Madhok had dreamt of. But this is not the end as Sunbeam Eduserve Ltd is another mile stone for a new beginning.

Mr. Deepak Madhok further added that to give our country educated citizens and all round developed schools, Sunbeam Eduserve Ltd. has been established. Sunbeam, like its name will not only spread the beam of knowledge in Purvanchal or UP but also in the whole country very soon. With modern techniques and methodologies Sunbeam is now set to build an educated country for the people.

The program started with the lighting of the lamp and a welcome address by Asst Director Sunbeam Eduserve Ltd. Mr. Sanjay Gupta. Apart from the directors of Sunbeam Eduserve, Director Sunbeam Mughalsarai Mr. Yaduraj Kanodia & Mrs. Shweta Kanodia, Director Sunbeam Mau Mr. Rakesh Garg, Director Sunbeam Jaunpur Ms. Monika Singh, Director Sunbeam Allahabad Mr. K.K. Ojha & Director Sunbeam Ghazipur Mr. Sunil Agrawal were also present at the occasion.

• Sunbeam Varuna Annual Function ”Sadbhavana” kindles hope . . .
  Varanasi 10,Dec. Harmony is the need of the hour. Love, affection, extending a helping hand, all entwined together make the rope on which we juggle to reach for the other end ,where a new world awaits us.
  A promising world where emotions like hatred ,greed are out of place ,where the fabric of co-existence is woven around share, care& interdependence.
  It all cam alive on the stage of Sunbeam Varuna with the adaptation from Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book”;where the message was spread across the overwhelmed audience by Mowgli and his friends.
  At the onset of the cultural show, Mrs. Arti Chopra Principal Sunbeam School. Welcomed the gathering and presented the annual school report before them.
  The programme took of with the lighting of the lamp by the Sunbeam Group of Institutions Chairman, Mr. Deepak Madhok along with the director, Mrs. Bharti Madhok.
  Chief guest’s of the day to grace the occasion with their presence were Mrs. Upadhyaya (Wife of  Commissioner, Varanasi) & Group Capt. Air force station Mr. Sanjeev Raj accompanied by his wife.
  The cultural extravaganza was put together by Nilay, Disha & Madhavendra as Mougli, adding verve to the show were Asif, Priya, Vidhi, Nishita & Ayushman who made the stage come alive with the dance number “Awara Bhavarein”.
  The management members ,students from jeevan jyoti blind school,support staffs of sunbeam school varuna and students from sunbeam school varuna sang together “dil hai chota sa “ spreading the message of sadbhavna and compassion.
  It started with the school orchestra Vividha which had 50 children playing classical and western instruments and singing together .Lavanya,mandira,aditya ,palak and anubhav etc were the participants of orchestra.Major dances like the dragon dance, bollywood retro ,tribal dance ,Krishna leela and hip hop really entertained the audience.The function culminated by a grand finale in which the children danced on” Hai junoon”
  In the end the Chairman Mr. Deepak Madhok expressed the hard pressed need to live in harmony and let nature be our best tutor.
• Brain Tech – A Maths Festival @ Sunbeam Bhagwanpur
  Numbers have numerous effects on people. To enumerate one or two they amaze  people who love them & scare away those who are phobia – struck. “ All you have to fear is fear itself”, propelled by this motive, Bhagwanpur organized the Brain Tech -  a carnival dedicated to numbers & the charms of intriguing Maths.
  The programme got off to a wonderful start with the inauguration by distinguished guest Prof. Rekha Srivastava & Prof. Santwana Mukhophadhyay, Professors of Applied Mathematics, IT, BHU. The two day programme was also graced by the Asst. Director Ms. Pratima Gupta.
  Around 1100 students of classes VII to XII took part in Mathemania – The Maths Olympiad. Difficult concepts & theorems were made easy by students of Class IX & X in Maths Power Point Presentation. Maths Relay was an innovative activity which thrilled the audience immensely.    
  An interesting round of Maths Quiz, Fastest Finger First (Rapid fire Buzzer Round) and Logic Kya Hai (a test of analytical thinking) conducted by Mr. Ajay Adhikari, kept the audience mesmerized & involved.
  Hard work needs to be rewarded & accorded  due credits. Prize distribution were done by the eminent guests & the Principal Ms. Gurmeet Kaur. The entire show was the collaborative effort by the Maths Department, ably lead by Mr. Piyush Srivastava.
• Sunbeam School, Bhagwanpur celebrates Natya Mahotsav – 2010 !
  
  Though the growing demand for hindi movies has diminished the popularity of theatre and drama, but we here at Sunbeam Bhagwanpur try to keep this old tradition of 'natak' or 'nautanki' alive through the 'Natya Mahotsava- A Festival Of Dramas'.
  
  The two day extravaganza saw 9 dramas staged in which around 150 students participated.On the first day(3rd Dec) we had - Quality of Mercy, Aag ka Tamasha, Chaambali, Samasyapurti and Romeo Juliet(in french). On the second day we had- Sixth Sense, Reed ki Haddi, After 20 Years and Yatha Prashnam Tatha Uttaram. The efforts of the students and teachers were highly appreciated by the Guests who themselves were theatre artists. Our Chairman  and Director too were extremely happy to see the confidence of the children on the stage. It was overwhelming to see the actors impersonating the characters and performing the dialogue and action so flawlessly!!

• Sneha – love for silver citizens – Annual Function of Sunbeam School, Annapurna, Varanasi
  
  The students of Sunbeam Annapurna displayed a vast repertoire of music and dance on 20th Nov.’10 at Sunbeam Lahartara, Auditorium. The dances were brilliantly coordinated and choreographed.
  The Annual Function “SNEHA” was dedicated to the senior citizens. The inmates of ‘Rajkiya Vriddhashram’, that has been adopted by Sunbeam Annapurna were also honoured during the show by presenting them with shawls.
  
  Earlier, the programme was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp. It was done by the Chairman Mr. Deepak Madhok, Director Mrs. Bharti Madhok, Deputy Director Mrs. Amrita Burman, Principal Mrs. Mamta Jaiswal, Guest of Honour Prof. Mahesh Bijawat. It was followed by the school annual report presented by the Principal Mrs. Mamta Jaiswal and the student council, comprising of Tanuj Todi, Depti Tanna, Devang Tanna, Yukta Dubey.
  
  As part of Sunbeam’s social initiative, a special programme was put up by SRF organization called ‘The Dhoop Chhaon’. “Humko Hamara Adhikar Chahiye” song was presented by them on the stage. These destitute children are supported by the Sunbeam Group of Educational Institutions.
  
  Beginning from Ganesh Vandana by the junior and the senior students, the audience was held captive with its many moods of dance and drama through Bharatnatyam, Chhau Dance, Sufi and to the world of Arabian Nights, where the dresses and the sets were skillfully designed.
  In Alibaba 40 thieves, the participants must be commended for their careful use of the stage, discipline, taut script. Lighting of course added to the depth of the production.
  
  The colorful enactment of the rhymes by the KG section held the audience in a spell. The juniors not only put up a grand function but showed promise too.
  The troika of drill yoga and karate showed the high concentration skills, quickness of action and sharp reflexes. It was followed by inspiring salsa where the grand parents also joined in to bring back the zing in their lives.
  The intricate rhythmic pattern of the rock band diversified by the style of performance where Arpit on the drums, Subhojit on Congo, Rajshree, Tanya and Diksha as singers were truly dazzling.
  
  Anchors Ayushi, Supriya, Shefali and Harshita were impeccable. Prof. Mr. Bijawat judged the program with great keenness and mentioned that to judge such a spectacular event was a difficult tasks as there was an impressive display of talent and skill by Kushagra, Siddharth, Shivani, Rupali, Siddheshwar, Rohan, Ankit, Arnav, Swati, Ritika, Himanshi, Shubham, Abdul Wahid, Palak, Jhalak, Pragati, Vidhushi, Saurabh, Vartika, Shrishti Suman, Krishna, Manya, Sushmita, Akansha, Harsh and Pradyumn along with approximately 380 participants.
  Also present were Mrs. Anubha Singh, Mrs. Sudha Singh and Mr. Aditya Choudhury and the other board of directors.
  
  With the gradual increase of nuclear families parents and grandparents are often neglected. A pledge was taken in the end that the place of the senior citizens was in our hearts and home and not in old age homes. The program ended with the thanks giving by the Chairman Mr. Deepak Madhok and Director Mrs. Bharti Madhok.
  
  The show concluded with the National Anthem.
  
  
• Jenny Mosley, the world famous educationist did QCT with Sunbeamians !
  
  The quality and language of personal interaction in schools − teachers with students and students amongst themselves is often marked by harshness of tone, insensitivity towards others’ feelings and an inadequate fluency in expressing thoughts, ideas and feelings. Schools need assistance in nurturing the ‘human’ side of student growth and development. Too often this is the responsibility of the school counsellor, when in fact; it must be the pressing concern of every adult member in the school.
  
  But there’s hope available in the form of a practical, gentle, positive approach called Whole School Quality Circle Time. The creator of this model, Jenny Mosley was recently in Varanasi to train 100 teachers from the Sunbeam Group of Educational Institutions. It was organised by The Teacher Foundation, an organisation that does significant work in training and supporting thousands of teachers across the country to becoming more energetic, effective, reflective practitioners and lifelong learners.
  
  Jenny Mosley conducted demonstrations with students - sitting in a circle – helping them learn relationship skills and explore issues relating to personal, social and moral education. Quality Circle Time sessions aim to encourage participation, the development of self discipline, negotiation, assertive communication and democratic group process alongside the skills of attending, speaking, listening, observing, thinking and concentrating. Teachers were trained in the Circle Time approach with engaging games, exercises, discussions designed to promote trust, respect, empathy and understanding.
  
  Developing ‘understanding’ allows the child to participate as a full member of the human race. Delight, wonder, mystery, pity, beauty and pain are every bit as important to our understanding of the human experience as anything we could ever be tested on.  The most appealing aspect of the Quality Circle Time model is the time given to students explicitly to socialise with each other”.

• JOSH @ Sunbeam...the Hostel Parents' Night of Sunbeam Hostel Bhagwanpur, Varanasi ! (held on 2nd November, 2010)                                                                       The dazzle of exuberant colours aptly reflected the enthusiasm and energy of the Boarders of Sunbeam School, Bhagwanpur Hostel. The occasion was Josh- The Hostel Parents’ Night on 2nd Nov,’2010 in the premises of Sunbeam Bhagwanpur. The Assistant Director of the Sunbeam Group, Mrs. Pratima Gupta, welcomed the parents and the special guests of the evening.
  The programme started in the pious atmosphere of the titillating ‘Ganesh Vandana’, as blessings were sought from Lord Ganesha.
  The audience watched in awe the flexibility, strength and agility of the children as they deftly presented Aerobics & Yoga. The foot tapping music of hip hop dance enthralled the audience and they were dumbstruck at the dexterity of the children in the Robot & Butterfly Dance, which depicted that Robots too behave more like humans when they come in their contact. The folk dance sequence thereafter was a mix of funfilled Gidda, Lavni, Dandia and Rajasthani dance and this established the fact that at Sunbeam, children are provided with a judicious blend of eastern ethics and western culture and despite of it all our children are deeply rooted to their own customs and traditions. The pun filled mehengai dance on the famous ‘Peepli Live’ number- ‘mahengai maar gayi’, was evidently admired by one and all. The ‘Ganga’ dance on the famous Bhupen Hazarika number “O Ganga tum Behti ho Kyun” by the college girls was a treat to watch, as through this they tried to show their concern against pollution of Maa Ganga. The fluidity of their steps enthralled all. The last event of the evening was the fashion show. The audience watched the children with bated breath as they ramp walked in a mosaic of stylish and colourful attires. Special attraction of the evening was the live telecast by the News Room of Sunbeam TV right from the venue !
  The vote of thanks was extended by the Chairman of Sunbeam Group Mr. Deepak Madhok and Director Mrs. Bharti Madhok.

• Panchtatva - The Annual Function of Sunbeam School Indira Nagar (held on 23rd October, 2010)
  It was a razzmatazz of colours mixed with the innocence of the children that took the audience down the memory lane of their childhood days during the cultural evening called the ‘Panchtatva - A celebration of the five elements’ on the 23rd Oct., 2010. The children of Sunbeam School Indiranagar, mesmerized the audience with their enthralling performances based on the five elements – Jal, Vayu, Prithvi, Antariksh and Agni, on their annual day.
  The kaleidoscope of the celebrations started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Dy. Director of the Sunbeam Group, Mrs. Amrita Burman. The Headmistress of Sunbeam School Indiranagar, Mrs. Renu Kapoor welcomed the august gathering and introduced the theme of the evening. The plethora of this cultural fiesta commenced with the tiny tots propagating the importance of ‘Jal’ through their dance recital. Through the musical ballet on ‘Terrorism in Kashmir’, the little hearts staged the importance of ‘vayu’. The significance of ‘Prithvi’ was played on Michael Jackson’s foot tapping music. The children displayed their talent admirably and transported the audience to a land of illusion and mystery as they enacted the roles of famous Astronauts Rakesh Sharma & Kalpana Chawla to signify the element ‘ Antariksh’. Thereafter, they staged the famous ‘jauhar’ of Rani Padmini to showcase the importance of ‘Agni’ on another enthralling piece of music.
  The finale of the evening was a musical extravaganza- ‘Panchtatva- the five elements’- a beautiful amalgamation of grace and fluidity of movement symbolizing the foundation of the entire physical world.
  The programme culminated with the valedictory by the Dy. Director of the Sunbeam Group, Mrs. Amrita Burman. The vote of thanks was extended by the Asstt. Director of Sunbeam Group, Mrs. Pratima Gupta. The gathering sang the national anthem before leaving the venue. The parents marvelled at the commitment of the institution towards the holistic development of their children.

• Renowned Educator Ms Jenny Mosley visits Sunbeam

  Jenny Mosley is a renowned educator with a rich experience of over 25 years in the Education sector. In her long, illustrious career, Ms. Jenny has developed a number of classroom management models including her own highly successful school. Today she heads the Jenny Mosley Consultancies, UK where she works with her highly trained and qualified consultants taking the QCT model to full range of educational settings: Mainstream primary and secondary, independent and special schools, care homes and adult education.

  The Teacher Foundation is accredited by Jenny Mosley Consultancies to offer training in the Whole School Quality in schools across India. As it is known, this 'eco-systemic training' aims at helping schools develop a Whole School Behaviour Policy that is positive, caring and safe for learners as well as the staff.

• Sunbeam School, Mau Inaugurated !
  
  On 25th September, 2010 the city of Mau was gifted with a quality school by Sunbeam Eduserve Ltd. There had always been the felt need for a good English medium school that would impart modern education keeping traditional values abreast. The overwhelming response by hundreds of focused parents right on the day of inauguration of the city office for Sunbeam School, Mau proved that opening an Associate School for the students of Mau was just the right move for Sunbeam Eduserve !
  
  The inauguration ceremony was followed by a very interesting and informative workshop on Effective Parenting by eminent educationist Ms Amrita Burman (Deputy Director, Sunbeam Group of Educational Institutions). More than 400 inquisitive parents attended the workshop and went back with rich knowledge of parenting kids and challenges before them as parents of the 21st century.
  
  The academic session of Sunbeam School Mau will begin from April 1st, 2011.

• Sunbeam Bhagwanpur Under 14 Boys Team bagged the CBSE EAST Zone Chess Championship Trophy. The event was organized at Shanti Niketan Vidyapeeth, Meerut from 27th to 29th  September’10. In the final they defeated C.J.D.A.V. Meerut by 4 – 0. The team consisted of –

Sunbeam Honours and Achievements

• Sunbeam Varuna won two First prizes in the CBSE Science Exhibition. They will now represent the East zone in the nationals.
• Sunbeam Lahartara's Drona Vatsyayan won the "Kaho Whats Your Idea" contest organized by Derek O' Brien & Associates and moves on to the nationals.
• Sunbeam Bhagwanpur won the Limca Book of Records contest and will now go to participate in the national level competitions.
• Sunbeam Varuna lifted the Championship trophy in the GeoFest 2010 the International Geography Olympiad organized by CMS, Lucknow. More than 88 schools from Indian and abroad participated in this event.
• Sunbeam Lahartara was the runners up in the GeoFest 2010 the International geography Olympiad organized by CMS, Lucknow.
